Maldivian beaten by their former talisman with a hat-trick

Runner-up Maldivian lost their opening match against Club WAMCO by 4-3, where a major role was played by their former talisman Abdulla Shaffaan (Shakaa).

WAMCO did exceptionally well in the first half, which resulted in a hat-trick from Shaffaan inside the opening fifteen minutes of the game. Hassan Adhuham (Sadey) extended their lead on the second half to 4-0.

On the efforts to come back into the game, Maldivian could find the net of the opponent’s goal only in the 28th minute of the match, with a goal from Abdulla Waaziu. Hamza Mohamed (Hampu) then scored a brace in the 34th and 38th minute to make the score line 4-3.

Elsewhere in Group-B action, Trade Club defeated Medianet by 4-2. First half of the game ended 2-2. The opening goal of the match was an own goal of Medianet, the other was scored by Jumail Jameel, who also scored in the second half. Ali Shareef scored the fourth goal for Trade Club. Mohamed Naeem and Mohamed Farish Adam scored the goals for Medianet.

The clash between Team Fenaka and MMA Social Club created much anticipation which ended in a draw. MMA took the lead in the second minute with a goal from Mohamed Yafaau. Fenaka then came back to lead the game, with goals from Yasfaad Habeeb (Mulakey) and Hussain Nashid (Naatto). However, Abdulla Simaah of MMA responded well to equalize before the end of the first half.

Fenaka took the lead in the second half with an own goal from MMA. Nevertheless, Mohamed Yafaau of MMA responded well in the next minute with a wonderful long-range effort to cover his teammate for the error. After Yasfaad took the lead for Fenaka once again for a third time in the 38th minute, Mohamed Mubeen scored the equalizer for MMA in the extra time.

In Group-D action, Ali Irufaad of Team FSM destroyed Allied late in the second half to make an amazing comeback. Mohamed Vilf of Allied scored the opener halfway through the second half. However, Ali Irufaad scored back-to-back goals in a short time, to take his team to the top of the table with three points.
